You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following couple of steps. First, locate a clear work surface to perform the process. Lay out all of the tools you need. Find the battery's hatch, and turn it open using an open-ended flathead, coin, or another similar tool. Next, carefully pry out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook for Volvo keyfob the key-ring. Make sure that you use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the contacts or the clips.

Once the battery has been removed, insert the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards, and that all clips are seated. Slide the cover towards the key-ring portion until it loosens and slides off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden key blade. You can use this to unlock your car from the driver's seat when you've lost or damaged the key fob.
